Richard is an experienced litigator who represents corporations and individuals in criminal, civil, and regulatory matters. He has extensive experience managing complex commercial disputes, government investigations, and bankruptcy cases.

Before joining Walden Macht & Haran LLP, Richard served as a trial attorney in the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of the U.S. Trustee where he was the lead attorney in numerous bankruptcy cases in which he deposed witnesses, drafted dispositive motions, negotiated settlements, and regularly appeared in court. Richard also practiced at a preeminent global law firm representing financial institutions and their executives in complex commercial disputes and government investigations. His private practice experience included class action and derivative securities litigation, corporate litigation before the Delaware Court of Chancery, arbitration enforcement, and government investigations concerning alleged violations of securities laws, tax laws, and the FCPA.

Richard also clerked for the Hon. Reena Raggi of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and the Hon. Dora Irizarry of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York.

Before law school, Richard was an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps. He served a one-year tour of duty in Iraq.

Richard graduated with honors from The Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law, where he was a note and comment editor of the Catholic University Law Review. He earned his B.A. in International Relations from Boston University, where he also graduated with honors.
